Application and Training Engineer

Position Summary:
Avonix Imaging is a small high-technology company providing world-class industrial x-ray and CT (computed tomography) imaging services and equipment. Avonix Imaging is committed to exceeding client’s expectations in the quality of products provided and the customer-centric way in which it is done.

Avonix Imaging provides custom x-ray imaging and computed tomography systems of its own design and manufacture, as well as standard systems from Nikon Metrology. Our combination of custom design, and industry leading technology from Nikon, places Avonix in an industry-leading position.

Avonix Imaging has an opening in our Maple Grove, MN facility for an Applications and Training Engineer. Responsibilities include performing x-ray and CT applications work to support capital equipment sales, training on new system installations, support new system commissioning and assist with contract scanning services business. Ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge in industrial x-ray imaging, computer technology and general digital imaging theory. Candidate must have excellent customer service skills and willingness to travel up to 50%.


  • Perform x-ray computed tomography applications to support capital equipment sales
  • Assist in sales efforts in-house and at customer sites as required
  • Perform training on new equipment installations at customer sites
  • Assist in commissioning of new equipment installations at customer sites
  • Provide support for in-house contract scanning services business
  • Assist in integration and commissioning of x-ray equipment in-house
  • Travel to customer sites across the United States and some international locations
  • Provide customer support and troubleshooting over the phone

Required Skills

  • Excellent computer and software related skills
  • Strong working knowledge of digital x-ray, microscopy, photography or related
  • Strong customer-service skills
  • Ability to communicate complex subject matter in an easy to understand manner
  • Self motivated
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations and manage customer expectations

Required Experience and Education

  • 5 years related experience
  • 2 year associates degree in non-destructive testing or equivalent preferred
