Food

The food processing and manufacturing industry can benefit from Digital X-ray and Computed Tomography in a variety of ways. High resolution computed tomography can be used on individual items such as candy to determine distribution of ingredients throughout the item. Individual ingredients can be segmented by size and/or density. In addition to analysis, x-ray imaging can also be used to inspect finished product for contaminants (metal, glass, organics and other foreign material) and check product contents.

  • Common uses: quality control, packaging research, foreign contaminants.
  • Common products: candy, processed foods.
