The goal of forensic engineering is to determine the root cause of material and/or product failures. Historically this has been accomplished by utilizing lab tools in a destructive analysis scenario, i.e. cut it open and see what’s going on. The power of x-ray and CT imaging is the unparalleled view of the internal workings of a subject part in a completely nondestructive method. Besides this view, a CT scan can completely memorialize the condition of the subject prior to any destructive analysis. This can be critical since destructive analysis has the potential to change the internal condition by simply opening the part up. Through our industry partnerships we can offer a full range of forensic engineering services including lab tools such as SEM, EDS and metallurgy, as well as industry experts to analyze the resulting data.
